The Jordan 4, now a legendary model

 

Although most of us could not witness Michael Jordan’s sporting feats live during the 80s and 90s, this era remains engraved as the golden age of the NBA for many fans. Michael Jordan, or His Airness, captivated with his aerial play and legendary dunks. These timeless moments deeply resonated with a generation passionate about sports and still influence Nike’s creators. Borrowing from this magic, they designed the new version of the famous Air Jordan 4, named 'Frozen Moments'.

It is also an opportunity to look back at the fascinating past of Michael Jordan’s fourth signature model, before the release of this pair that could become one of the most coveted of the year.

Frozen Moments, a name inspired by Michael Jordan

 

If the Air Jordan 4 means something to you, you know it is the creation of Tinker Hatfield. Designed in 1989, after his triumphs with the Air Max 1 and the Air Jordan 3, Hatfield confirmed his genius with this silhouette. But here, it is the Jordan 4 that holds all our attention.

During the 1988-89 season, wearing the Jordan 4, Michael Jordan delivered a stunning performance with an average of 32.5 points per game. This model became iconic on May 7, 1989, thanks to a decisive shot by Jordan. This "Frozen" moment is one of many that inspired this new AJ4 colorway.

The name "frozen moment" also recalls a 1997 commercial for the Air Jordan 12. This commercial perfectly illustrates the magic that Jordan brought to every game.

The Air Jordan 4 'Frozen Moments' is part of a long series of exclusively female versions. But gentlemen, don’t worry! Although mainly designed for women, this pair is available in larger sizes. Its neutral color palette, as well as its combination of leather and suede, make it a sneaker for everyone.

In the end, this new iteration has vibes of the Air Jordan 4 Craft 'Photon Dust'. For fans, the Air Jordan 4 'Red Cement' is also expected this fall.
